The idea of this is to give, essentially, a status. The scoring system can explain the score. For example, Bob has a goal of 1550 on the SAT (wow). However, he wants to know his current score level. So he checks it and understands he already has a 1480 (wow again). He also wants to know what that means so he checks the scoring system and sees that it's pretty good.
