I can offer you my story 

You Khan Learn Anything the opportunity of a lifetime

Sometimes in life we find something new something that changes the way we think.

I was always a girl drawing, writing, animating and computer programming within a community I was from. 
Unfortunately I never had the privilege to attend a Hackathon or coding event so a Child Life Specialist told me about Khan Academy and how they had programming projects so I decided to proceed with using khanacademy.org little did I know that it was my destiny.

I was always had good grades when I was in School I was top in my classes using mathematics etc. then at age 10 I was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease so we then proceeded with homeschooling with a great family support and schooling structure set in place.

That being said I noticed key areas where I was missing in learning math which khanacademy.org noticed right away I now created a goal set of mastering Math and Computer programming but I started to see more content within this website I noticed art and animation from Pixar in a Box.

I always had a artistic side of me from storytelling and drawing I loved art the most finding it therapeutic for me to my surprise I Sketch a picture to Thank Pixar for what they have offered and the Khan Academy Support Team had emailed the picture to Pixar. It really truly made me happy as since having a Chronic illness I can't travel to Disney world but instead my drawing made it to Pixar which made me realize my destiny my true calling was definitely the arts.

Over time I began to support the community and helping out which then I was offered the opportunity to volunteer for them as a Support Advocate.

Here is what makes me truly happy about Khan Academy there mission is to deliver free education worldwide to anyone my hopes is that no matter what life brings you or what your challenges are this includes medical challenges is that I can help in a small way shape the future for others with chronic illnesses to get a education they need in there own time with self pace learning also in this I want more Girls to like mathematics and to be interested in computer programming with being a part of being a Support Advocate I am also peer support (academically) to help students learn and utilize khanacademy.org.

I finally learned valuable lessons through this journey I Khan learn anything and most of all I am proud to be a Khan Academer.

The Self Paced Learner -Developing the Principles of Sal Khan's Learning foundation

For along time I was home-schooled for medical based reasons imagine being immune-compromised , neutropenia and multiple health issues due to Mitochondrial disease. My parents were loving and supportive and encourage Science, Physics articles , space , art , technology and a variety of learning options for me to succeed. This was in K-12 now I set on a new journey one that involves Sal Khan's Learning foundation I have read ONE WORLD SCHOOLHOUSE and his innovative idea's shape the idea of No homework and the ideas that could change education. I am implementing my own ideas and becoming a College/University level home-schooled student with the use of Khan Academy I am directing my own self learning , developing my Course syllabus due to health circumstances my health can be unpredictable so with self paced learning I planning to do something totally new and out of the box. I want to transform the idea of becoming the first Home-schooled College / University student as my focus in mainly in arts , writing and skills to do various volunteering virtually.

Most of all Khanacademy.org is being used as my main study tool with lots of free content I learn things around my illness compared to me working around schooling.

Also the greatest gift of all I get to be a Support Advocate (Khan Academy Volunteer) which is flexible around my disease I feel humbled and honored to work with the youth on the site and most be a part of feeling like a School(virtually) as I always say I am proud to be a Khan Academer. I journey to become a Self-Learner and develop my own talents and skills but most of all be a part of a amazing charity that provides free education to anyone, anywhere.

I wrote this a long while back before we changed the layout of our community and was just beginning to be a full time learner but this is what Khan Academy means to me.

A mighty tree..

Many have told me I can't change the world but I said yes I can because the smallest seed can grow into a mighty tree..

To us we may be small we may simply seem like a piece of sand but our jobs are not to work in such a large way are jobs are to work in our communities its not the government its not a state,province or Country its a community that changes a community and slowly does it grow larger then the community itself in grows into a city like the sand on the beach against tides.We may be going through difficult times but one thing never changes we have two hands we have love and the opportunity to work within our communitys and to change the world one day.After all with all the Kindness in the world it can't be contained like the seed from the ground that grows into a mighty tree eventually that impact is felt everywhere.........
