Unexplainable BUG in my JavaScript

I've spent hours going in circles, I believe it's diabolical so asking for verification... I've made a video and have the code ready to be executed on your computer, explicit if statement that doesn't return and should return has a comment on it and I've logged the appropriate variables to the console... just open your dev tools before clicking the link and it will hit the debugger or it has for me on both my phone and tablet using kiwi browser (based on chromium)... you can find it in the 🎓section on first load ... goo.gl/Um2MAk
