Hello, I'll make this brief as it's just a small question and didn't know where else to ask this.

If we are using (P+Q)^2 = P^2 + 2(P)(Q) + Q^2 ;

why does the x^2 become (x)^2 and not (x^2)^2, since we are supposed to square the entire term? Thank you for reading and have a blessed day.

Since x^2-2x+1 is a perfect square recall that

(a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2

In this case, x^2-2x+1, x = a and 1 =b.

Thus (x-1)^2 = x^2-2x+1

When going backward, the first term is already squared, so x^2 should be simplified to x.
