WAIT because this could actually be adorable. what if anytime you reach a certain milestone, rather than getting a worthless badge, you get an egg! and then you have to keep studying to maintain that "streak" to hatch the egg/grow it/keep it alive, kinda like a tamagotchi. and different pets can have different rarities. and they can like hang around your window while you study like they can walk around, play, sleep, or even get sick when you haven't studied for a while (kinda like the duolingo widget). think of it like this, you don't study for a certain period of time → your pet dies. but then you get a chance to get a new egg! if, of course, you study the minimum amount for getting a new egg. yeah. not necessarily USEFUL in lessons, but it's fun to collect and a great motivation to keep studying.
