My question here is more of a concern: Are interviews allowed on KA? If so, why do interviewers get Guardian warnings? I was an interviewer, oh, about a year and a half ago. It was for a paper loooong dead. But I got a Guardian warning telling me not to interview. It scared the stuffing out of me. I talked to other people and I wasn't the only one getting those messages. Ever since then I have stayed out of interviewer positions and in Papers that I help create, I tend to leave out the interview position. I have already have one crisis where all our staff and homepages were banned, to this day, I have no idea why we were banned.(It would've been nice if we got a warning before-hand) That also scared the stuffing out of me, and then more stuffing. I have gone through more drama(I'm not talking about what I just mentioned, other things such as insults and accusations in a very harsh and scolding tone, I almost quit it got so bad, it took my staff pleading for me to stay to keep me in the paper) with Newspapers than you can guess. Anyway, thats some of my paper experience, my point in saying all that, is that I don't want anymore drama with the rules, I don't want any bannings or things being hidden because of me. If people are depending on me, I'll do my best to deliver. And I want to know, once and for all, are interviews allowed, so that if we start doing them we won't get any bannings or messages.

It would be nice if an official member of the KA staff or Gaurdain team responded to this.

Well I'm afraid most of the KA community is underage. That could be one of the reasons. Plus it is not permitted to provide personal information in the forums. Who are you wanting to do the interview to? Maybe you can contact workers or Support Advocates to try to interview them and ask about their experience serving for Khan Academy. It would be cool to read if the questions are good enough.

We've generally not allowed interviews on the CS programs (or other parts of the site) because they tend to lead to a lot of off-topic conversations and the sharing of personal information. We don't want users bulk-sending other people requests for interviews (these can be annoying and are pretty off-topic). We also take user privacy very seriously and don't want personal information or contact information being exchanged.

We've also found that interviews have historically created a lot of unnecessary drama and arguments. In some ways they have also served as "advertisements" for various programmers, neither of which we want to promote in our community.

We would much rather see users creating their own programs sharing their expertise and perspectives on programming topics and other things that the interviews have historically covered. This reduces the number off-topic conversations, allows users to share their perspectives the way they want them to be shared, and encourages everyone to learn how to make their own programs!
