SAT Full Test Scoring

When looking back at some of my older full practice test scores, I noticed that although I got more questions wrong on the tests, I got an overall higher score than now when I got nearly all questions correct (I used to have almost twice as many incorrectly answered or missed questions as I do now). Does anyone know of a possible explanation for this?
