How do you add complex numbers and radicals?

I'm doing my homework and I'm stuck on a problem that says to write the sum or difference in standard from and the question is (radical 7 + i^2)-(6- radical -81) sorry I don't have a radical/square root button on my keyboard so I just typed it out, the only ones under the radical are 7 and -81.

Is this your question?
= sqrt(7) + i^2 -[6-sqrt(-81)].
= sqrt(7) + [sqrt(-1)]^2 -6 + sqrt(81 * -1)]
= sqrt(7) -1 -6 + sqrt(81)*sqrt(-1)
= sqrt(7) -1 -6 + 9*i
= sqrt(7) -7 +9i.
= -7 + sqrt(7) + 9i.
