How do I connect my class to a Khan Academy assessment?

Opdateret

To make sure your students can access the right assessments and appear in your reports, you’ll need to connect your class to the correct assessment on your Khan Academy dashboard.

This is a required step for all teachers administering assessments. Students will not be able to take the assessment until your class is connected.

Follow the steps below to set it up.

Step 1: Open the Assessments tab from your dashboard

  1. Sign in to your Khan Academy teacher account.
  2. On your dashboard, click the Assessments tab.

Please note: Only District-synced or Learning Paths classrooms can be connected to an assessment. This will be noted by a "DISTRICT SYNCED"  or "LEARNING PATHS" label on a class.

If you do not see the Assessments tab, it means your district is not participating or the feature hasn’t been enabled yet. Reach out to your district contact or assessmentsupport@khanacademy.org for help.

Step 2: Select “Add assessment” if your page is blank

If this is your first time accessing the assessments section, you won’t see any assessments.

Select Add assessment to get started.

Step 3: Choose the assessments you plan to use

From the list of available subjects, select the assessment series that are relevant to your classes (for example: Algebra 1, 7th Grade Math, or ELA 9 - 10).

Select Add assessment next to each one you plan to administer.

Once you have added the desired assessments, click on “Next, select classes”

Note: you may see assessments or pilots that your district is not participating in.

Tip: Only add the assessments you teach.

Step 4: Connect your class(es)

Once you've selected an assessment, you’ll be prompted to select the specific class periods that should take that assessment.

Check the box for each class you want to connect, then click Finish.

Step 5: Review or adjust your selections

After setup, your connected assessments and classes will appear as a series on your assessment landing page.

From here, you can:

  • Review which classes are connected
  • Add or remove assessments
  • Edit connected classes

Important: Students will only be able to access the assessment if they are in one of the connected classes.

Tip: Each series includes multiple testing windows (middle and end of year).

Note: If you remove a class from an assessment, that class will lose access and you will no longer see data for those students. This affects all teachers linked to that class.

What happens next?

Once the testing window opens, you’ll receive the access link for each assessment. You’ll share that link with students when you’re ready for them to begin.

For Algebra and Geometry assessments, you will also be able to access reports from the assessment landing page. Reporting is not available for pilots.
