How do I set the Gem challenge class reward?

Each class in Khan Academy Reimagined has a monthly Gem challenge. As students complete assigned activities, they earn gems both individually and as a class. Students can track their progress and see how close they are to the class goal.

One great way to motivate is by setting a class reward. This reward appears in the student view and can help encourage students to keep working toward the challenge goal.

How to set your class reward

1. Go to your Class Overview page.
2. On the right-hand side, locate the Gem Challenge section.
   
    
3. Select the edit icon next to the “Reward” label.

4. In the pop-up window, type in your class reward (e.g., “Lego party” or “Extra recess”) and click Save.

   
   
    

That’s it! Your reward is now visible to all students.

What students will see

• When students visit their Achievements page, they can view their current gem count, how many gems their class has earned, and the reward they’re working toward.
• When the class meets the challenge, it will also be displayed.

Things to keep in mind

• The Gem Challenge resets at the beginning of each month.
• When the new challenge begins, the gem count resets to zero.
• You will need to set a new reward for each monthly challenge.
  • If a reward is not entered, it will appear blank in the class card and will be totally removed from the reward section of a challenge celebration.
