I can visualize 3 1/4 × 1 1/2 = 4 7/8 for area. I assume the sum is correct. However, I'm unable to visualize this equation on a number line and as a grid. I can't conceptualize why it's correct on either one. Can you please show me how this makes sense on a number line and on a grid. Thanks.
