Ok, so I was watching this video about this topic and I just thought 'why not just add a two below the Cl on the product?'

The reaction was: Na+Cl₂ ---> NaCl

I had to make the equation correct.

(The part in my video is from 7:30)

great question!

Although that would make both sides equal, in chemistry NaCl2 is not a compound, I'm not sure if you've learned this yet but NaCl balances the charges while NaCl2 doesn't. So this would balance the equation but cause other problems, when doing this type of problem you want to adjust the quantity of elements and compounds but don't adjust the type of elements and compounds usually.
