The website and app should support a Dark Mode to allow users with sensitive eyes to better immerse themselves in learning sessions. This is a standard of any modern website and it's a real shame Khan Academy does not natively support it. There are workarounds such as manual dimming, or dark mode mimicking browser add-ons, but they are far from perfect.

Great idea, Super Metroid! There are several off-site extensions you can use to invert your colors on Khan Academy, but my personal favorite is here. You could also try turning down your brightness, for most computers that's pressing F5 (without FN). This is one of the most common site requests, so your thoughts are not alone!

I use Dark Reader for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkreader/ it works well except when KA uses black objects, then they are difficult to see but not impossible.
People who're suggesting extensions: Extensions are used when some functionality is unavailable, which makes them a band-aid, not a solution. Khan Academy needs a native dark-mode and not depend on extensions to do such basic things.
Of course, now only if someone explained this same thing to those self-righteous people on the Community Discord server...
Khan is now asking for donations from those chosen for the new AI Guide.
While I agree that people who are willing to take advantage of all that they offer. I doubt very much that many of the people asking for Dark Mode, myself included, would be willing to pay for a service we can't use as well as other people.
Parts of my vision, in both eyes, are missing, laser surgery didn't fix them but stopped them from getting worse. It also led to my eyes becoming very sensitive to light.
Dark Mode isn't some luxury that people want. It's a basic necessity that many people need and in this day and age there's really no reason not to provide it.
I for one will not pay a cent for Khan until an option for Dark Mode is created.
When I'm able to use Khan at the same level of comfort as others (the brightness severely limits how long I can be on the site and causes me actual physical pain within my eyes) I will be more then happy to contribute to Khan, other than this it's an awesome site and I love that something like this exists. I just wish it was possible for Anyone, Anywhere to use it as they advertise.
For all that they do Khan should be ashamed at their lack of accessibility options. They need to do better for people with disabilities or other difficulties.
Until then their slogan is a lie, because ANYONE should include people like me and the others who have had to beg for such a basic necessity, but at the time I'm writing this it doesn't.
And no, I won't use a third-party extension or use High Contrast, High Contrast may darken the screen but it messes up everything else.
We deserve better than to be told, figure it out ourselves.
