Learning Foreign Languages on Khan Academy

Hello,

I've always been interested in learning new languages. To be exact, I'm quite interested in Spanish, Taiwanese Hokkien, Mandarin, and possibly Japanese or French. Looking at Khan Academy to where it is now, I'd think they would have released at least one course that has to do with learning how to speak a language with tutorials, practice, and tests to show your knowledge.

I wish that Khan Academy would be able to give some courses on learning languages because on the Internet there are (depending on the language) very limited courses. I was wondering if you can translate on Khan Academy, why not give courses to learn how to speak those languages on Khan Academy?

I feel like by adding languages, you can go into a whole world full of things to learn. By creating courses about learning a foreign language and posting them on the internet for everyone, other people outside of Khan Academy won't have to browse for hours looking for a great course with great content. And as everyone knows, Khan Academy provides many great courses, anytime, anywhere, for free. It would be cool if one of the tools would be learning a language.

Being able to learn languages are really important especially for many High Schools because (to my knowledge), many colleges and/or high schools require people to know at least one foreign language (this is in a lot of places where I live, especially in America).

Knowing that Khan Academy would have courses to help you learn foreign languages are great so that people can learn how and, if stuck at school, home, or through another course elsewhere, they can come here and learn as well to get better at a language.

While I was researching for learning how to speak Taiwanese, most offered you to learn the language mostly spoken in that area which is Taiwanese Hokkien. However, I found only a couple of very small free sites with limited material that gave quite terrible content and I felt as though I learned nothing at all after an hour of practice just reading and trying to speak in something I don't know. The process was too fast. Then, of course, I could try to go to other online tools and try to learn while giving tons of money just to learn a language. And if I'm stuck and having difficult at school... well, that'll be pretty hard for me as well.

Just in general, with tons of people that may or may not be required to learn languages, or may like to learn languages on their own, there's too little sites that provide great content for many people. If Khan Academy can provide these courses, then I can learn, thrive, and be able to know that Khan Academy provides not just "free, world-class education", but "great free, world-class education" or even outstanding free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere.

Thank you for taking this message into consideration and possibly thinking about releasing some online courses on Khan Academy that have to do with learning foreign languages.

By the way, I sent in a "Report a Problem" ticket asking for new material about two months ago, so I just thought I'd send this in as well to ensure that you've at least seen, if not acknowledged my request.

EDIT: I purposefully put in "Upvote" because I want word out and people to share their support. Hopefully there will be enough votes that the idea cannot be considered anymore and KA Staff will start planning and creating these courses I requested.
