Hi! Adding to this - while Duolingo is great and also has an advanced English (through English) course now, I think it'd still be fun to try and experiment with the mastery system and etymology approach to vocabulary. Maybe a course adaptation of the pedagogic mode of books like Norman Lewis' Word Power Made Easy, perhaps using the online Merriam-Webster dictionary, would help? M-W's Word of the Day emphasises etymology, and often connects entries to etymologically related words. It also uses examples from real-life published prose rather than made-up examples to show language in real-world contexts. These features could be incorporated into a gamified vocabulary through reading mastery-based course perhaps!
