The Pre AP Studio Art Course Pitch

    I noticed that there is an important course missing under the Arts and Humanities column: Pre AP Studio Art. Based on my personal experience, I truly think this course is essential to incoming highschoolers pursuing art, and totally feasible with the Khan Academy platform.

 

     Why Pre AP Studio Art? PAP Studio Art is otherwise known as Intro/Basics of Art. This course provides students with basic techniques and concepts essential to creating artwork (Elements of Art, Sketchbook Brainstorming, Gridding Techniques, etc.) before they dive deeper into more specific areas in art during their high school years (ex: AP 3-D Sculpture or AP Art Design). I believe that taking the course during my freshman year greatly equipped me with every tool I need to explore my creativity as an artist when I proceed with AP 2-D Art next year. PAP Studio Art can easily be achieved through short lesson videos and the AI database Khan Academy has.
