Mastery Challenges faster
Mastery challenges are ~16hours per MC. It'll be better if we cut that down to 2 hours per MC.

Hello, there! Thanks everyone for your feedback :)
At the moment, learners can complete one Mastery Challenge per 12-hour period. Additionally, you don't have to finish a Mastery Challenge in one sitting; once you start it, you have 12 hours to complete a Mastery Challenge or it will reset.
That said, as part of our Support Community improvement project, we’re preserving inactive posts that have historical or community value and closing them to new comments. This is one of them!
If this post covers a topic that you’re interested in discussing with the community or requests a feature you’d like to see on Khan Academy, you can try to find an active post about it and add your thoughts (or feel free or create a new post if it doesn’t yet exist in the forum).
I disagree - I find there is tremendous value in requiring a student to wait 16 hours between MC attempts. Many students learn math by mimicry (which technically is pattern recognition, which is a math skill...) so they see a problem done 10 times and then just mimic the solution on the 11th question and get it right, even though they really have no idea of what they are doing.
I have had students do practices by just immediately hitting "hint" spastically (to get all the hints as fast as possible) for the first 4-5 questions and then try to get 5 in a row right. They do not watch the video as they figure (and have practiced doing in math classes for years) that they can just mimic the solution and be right 75% of the time and get passed along. They have no interest in actually learning the math, they just want the "5 in a row" practice and move on.
This is my #1 battle with lower performing students in High School. Ironically, these kids are probably the stronger math students, but having found early on (4th and 5th grade?) a short-cut around having to actually LEARN and UNDERSTAND the material, they are very averse to going back and digging into the material as an older student (10/11/12 graders). Having a 16 hour time delay between MC is the best way Khan Academy combats this practice.
PLEASE keep the time delay at 16 hours!
No 10 minutes Per Mastery Challenges
im about to master sth and then it says 7 hours on my screen pls reduce this time more
I think it should be cut down to about 10 min, it would be really helpful.
I think that it should be like 5 minutes then we could finish more and more skills over time, and when you are offline, it would be 5 hours per master challenge so we wouldn't be overwhelmed with master challenges when you go back to the website.
hmm
I am really really trying to finnish 5th grade this week (monday today) but I am only on 64% pls may you change the wait-time thx
Im trying to Master 6th and I clearly dont have enough time because i have to wait 9 hour in between each mastery challenge
i need to get things done on here for school and it doesn't hep when i need to wait 10 hours for my next MC please make it 2 hours
For some reason Khan Academy does not give a hoot about the feedback its users provide. They feel that a 15-16 hour wait time is the ONLY solution to enhancing the memorization of material. Yet what they fail to understand is that not every student/learner brain operates in the same manner. Some can memorize things very easily and some cannot. Just require more questions to master a subject if they want to make the memorization improve.
By the time I want to accomplish what I have set out to do (which is review all the mathematics and eventually go back to college) I will probably be dead. Because at the pace currently I am going, it feels like an eternity. We live in the 21st century where we like to go fast, we drive fast automobiles, we don't utilize horse and buggies anymore. Get with the program Khan.
ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE WHO USE KHAN, you don't have to wait the time limit to do a MC. All you have to do is keep practicing skills and soon when u practice a certain amount of skills, a "wild MC has appeared" (lol)
Just keep practicing skills people and you will get that MC
P.S: I am not a worker for Khan, I'm just giving advice
i think the amount of time is fine, khan actually have us a way to get things going faster though!
if you do many skills(like 5-6) and get them to practiced if they were not already practiced mastery challenges will most likely start popping up and you be able to do them
I'm trying to increase my khan mission 5% for an assignment. Since mastery challenges are the fastest and easiest way to do this, I would like the time to be shorter. Mine says 7 hours and 46 minutes until the next one, and it's due TODAY. So... it's a pain. I will need to do practices, which for some reason are harder to do than the mastery challenges. So can you please reduce it?
@renagaderaider,
Please refrain from using this kind of language on the support community. It can get you banned.
I do not think it is necessary to have to WAIT 8 hours to "master" a skill. Don't you think it would be a lot better to have it be just 1 hour of actual productive work, instead of 8 hours not doing math? It is especially a problem if you have level 2 or above on EVERYTHING in pre-algebra and have nothing else to practice. It is also a problem for anyone who has this as a school assignment because assignments usually have a deadline. I think it should be based on if you have skills ready to master or not, instead of just when khan thinks I have waited enough. Some people ARE ready to move on, but are held back by the wait times. It is really frustrating, especially when you are so close to finishing and have a deadline to meet.
Please fix this! It would help me and my friends a lot!
