Evaluating projects that don't meet the requirements?
First of all, I'm in my 30s, so I'm one of the older students here on KA. I'm doing the Computer Science track for fun, and I tend to take the assignments to the extreme, doing more than what is required, because I can, and I find it fun.
I understand that others are beginners. I was one, once. But what's the best way to evaluate a project when it unfortunately doesn't meet the requirements?
Particularly, I'm talking about some of the projects that require the programmer to scale an image made of vector shapes. I just spent about an hour typing up a spinoff of someone's project in an attempt to explain scaling shapes and positions from some base scale and root coordinates. After several attempts to simplify the explanation, I gave up and skipped the evaluation.
If someone didn't really meet the requirements, what do you do? Do you try to explain the concepts that they didn't get, or do you just say 'Try again' and move on?
