Expose a link() function to linking to webpages

Just make url parameter always base off of "http://khanacademy.org/" then add from there.

maybe we can limit the hyperlink to KA by user only being allowed to have everything after "https://www.khanacademy.org"
example:

to hyperlink to Community Guidelines

Links are allowed on webpages and I'm not sure if it has to do with a fact that in js you can open a link without any user prompt. I suggest a function that works like the href tag in html and is similar to a text function.

Stephen Waldron, doing it that way won't be any good due to it being only able to make texts link. It's rather better to have a single parameter or maybe two like this:
link(destination, *how to open it);
*: optional, you decide either to open it on new tab/new window/direct link

Sungbin Cho (GoldenApple) I agree with you, also KA should probably have a warning when linking externally, like is done on webpages, and optionally to other KA pages, or simply have a guideline up saying linking must occur with user interaction, like they have done with sounds. It seems kinda simple now, since they already use all techniques that could allow safe linking with webpages and in sound.

Or you could make it so there is a firewall between the link and the site. You could make it so sites like SafeEyes, NetNanny, K9 Web Protection, etc. would come in between the link and the site so that users could not access any bad sites from KA. If they would like to they can just do it from their browser. But I do like the idea of just having links to just KA too. It would make it a lot easier.

This is a good idea. Currently the only "link function" we have is through HTML, with <a href="http://google.com/">Go to Google.</a> If they came up with link() that would be brilliant.

I vote yes, add the link() function but if possible, restrict its use to only webpages with https, not http.

its a great idea but it as its risk but thats the flagging tool is for right,so i say go for it!

I think it should create a message asking to go to the other page when a function like link(example.com), so I say GO AHEAD!

Webpages within Khan Academy should be able to be linked to. However, webpages outside of Khan open in a new window and with a prompt first, just like is done with <a>.
