I noticed recently that a user copying other programs was saying that they prefered to credit than spin-off.

The guidlines state that:

It’s considered plagiarism if:

A user pastes someone else's work into a new project, instead of creating a spin-off.
A user pastes work from multiple projects without giving credit/links to those projects in comments at the top of the project.

If the code is exactly the same, shouldn't it be a spin-off? Or is credit sufficient in that case?

Hi TDJ,

If a project uses significant portions of code from another user's project, then the project should be saved as a spin-off of the original. Copy-pasting into a new project (with or without credit in the comments) is not sufficient and will lead to the project being hidden.

If only minor portions of code are used, such as generic button functions, collision detectors, etc. then you do not need to use a spin-off. In this case, comments in the code with a link to the original project is sufficient.
