I listened to Episode 96 of People I (Mostly) Admire "Steven Strogatz Thinks You Don't Know What Math Is" and they discussed Math Appreciation. Steven Strogatz offered his guidance in creating such a high school course. The end of Episode 97 of People I (Mostly) Admire "How Smart is a Forest?" notes tremendous excitement about the availability of such a course.

Maybe this would be a good opportunity for Khan Academy to work with Steven Strogatz to produce such a course.

This is a great suggestion! But Sal already conveys the excitement of learning in every video he makes, and the Algebra 1 course has Creative Breaks with similar aims. The whole Khan Academy platform is indeed geared towards instilling a love for learning.

Still, keeping in mind KA's current priorities, a good way to include Math Appreciation is to work with Study Hall (ASU and Crash Course partnership project), and embed their Math videos into relevant KA courses.

Study Hall Algebra fits perfectly into KA Algebra, as additional videos - new exercises needn't be made. Study Hall Real World College Math also covers topics on Khan Academy, but in new ways - so this could lay the foundation for the Math Appreciation course.

That said, thanks again for the idea! Maybe Sal could interview Strogatz, Grant Sanderson, Prof. Leonard, and other Math educators, for inspiration videos sprinkled across Math courses here! The interview format used in Internet Safety seems to be working really well.
