What activity is counted toward SAT practice time on Khan Academy?
On September 1, 2019, we at Khan Academy updated our time tracking in Official SAT Practice (OSP) to be more accurate and meaningful.
As part of this update, we’d like to clarify which activities do count towards “time practiced” in the Official SAT Practice experience and which activities don’t.
These activities currently count towards “time practiced” on OSP:
- Doing a diagnostic
- Doing a practice task
- Doing a timed mini-section
- Doing essay practice (with Revision Assistant)
- Reviewing a full length practice test
- Reviewing a practice task or timed mini-section
- Taking a full length practice test
- Viewing information on the Review tab
- Reading supplemental articles that are part of our SAT resources
- Watching supplement videos that are part of our SAT resources
These activities do NOT count towards “time practiced” on OSP:
- Linking a College Board account or importing test information.
- Setting up a practice schedule.
- Viewing diagnostic starting levels.
- Viewing our list of full length practice tests.
- Viewing the screen that appears at the end of each practice task.
- Viewing the "find your starting skill levels" intro screen in the first diagnostic.
- Viewing the screen that appears at the start of each diagnostic, before doing questions.
- Viewing the screen that appears at the start of each practice task, before doing questions.
- Viewing the screen that appears at the start of each timed mini-section, before doing questions.
- Viewing the OSP Dashboard
- Viewing the OSP Landing page
- Viewing what materials are listed in the Tips and Strategies tab (viewing the actual resources themselves will count given they are supplemental articles/videos).
- Viewing what tasks are listed in the Practice tab
You’ll still be able to find your practice time in the same places in your SAT Dashboard as before—nothing there has changed! For instance, if you’re a learner and you’ve created a practice schedule, you can continue to see time practiced by hovering over each date in your calendar:
Additionally, if you are participating in the College Board Opportunity Scholarships program, this update means that the practice time that you see recorded on Khan Academy will be more consistent with the practice time requirements for the scholarship program as shown on the College Board's website.
